Lived experience

We listen to people who’ve been there. These voices help guide our services and keep our support grounded in what truly matters.

Why lived experience sits at the heart of our work

At Allkind, lived experience isn’t an extra, it’s central to how we work.

It means listening to people who’ve faced mental health challenges and taking what they share seriously. Their shared insights help us understand how support really feels, not just how it’s designed to work.

By working alongside people with real-life experience, we can:

  • Shape and improve services
  • Influence how support is delivered day to day
  • Challenge us when things aren’t working
  • Keep services responsive, inclusive and grounded

Our lived experience groups

Lived Experience Advisory Forum (LEAF)

LEAF brings together people with lived experience and staff to help shape services across the organisation. The group meets every 6–8 weeks through a mix of online, in-person and hybrid sessions, sharing feedback and ideas to improve support.

Youth Advisory Panel (YAP!)

YAP! gives young people with lived experience a space to share ideas and influence services for children and young people. YAP! is designed to reflect young people’s needs and experiences.

Our commitment to working alongside people

We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health challenge gets the support they need to live the life they deserve.

Embedding lived experience across our work helps us improve services and make sure decisions are informed by real experiences.

Help shape our support

We’re looking for people with lived experience to work alongside staff to help shape services and influence change.

You don’t need previous experience and support will be provided.

Meetings take place every 6–8 weeks, and participation is supported. Travel expenses will be offered.
