Suicide Awareness Training
Building confidence to talk about suicide and support people safely
About the training
In the UK, suicide is the main cause of death for young people under the age of 35 and the single biggest killer of men under 50. Each life lost affects far more than one family, it’s estimated that around 135 people feel the impact of every suicide. This means nearly 900,000 people across the UK may be affected every year.
Our Suicide Awareness and Prevention training helps organisations reduce stigma and create cultures where people feel able to speak openly and seek help when they need it. The sessions teach teams to recognise warning signs, understand risk factors, and know how to respond compassionately if they’re worried about someone.
We also challenge common myths, including the belief that talking about suicide puts the idea in someone’s mind. In fact, asking directly and using sensitive language can help someone feel seen, understood and more able to reach out for professional help.
