In September, we were proud to launch our SEND Community Project in partnership with Mushkil Aasaan, bringing together local services to better support parents and carers of children with SEND.
The project is targeted primarily at the South Asian community in Tooting, but is open to everyone, with a strong focus on breaking down barriers to access, particularly around language and navigating complex systems.
Since the launch on 19 September, monthly workshops have been taking place on the first Friday of each month, with sessions tailored to the needs of families at different stages. Each workshop brings together two services: a main provider leading an interactive session or drop-in, and a supporting service hosting a coffee morning and offering informal advice and signposting. Families have already heard from services including Children’s Centres, Portage, the Early Years Inclusion Team and Wandsworth IASS, alongside organisations such as the Parent Carer Forum, NHS Community teams and M-HIP. Sessions are designed to be inclusive and accessible, with materials translated into five to six languages.

“SEND Allkind helped me understand that my son’s behaviours were not strange. and part of his ADHD. I now react to my son with greater understanding and this has helped my relationship with him.”
Upcoming sessions include SEND play and sensory-seeking and sensory-avoidance needs led by Beth Fritz Tutoring, and an Autism Awareness session to mark World Autism Acceptance Day (30 March), delivered by the Wandsworth Autism Advisory Service (WAAS). The programme will continue through to June, and there is still time to get involved as we continue welcoming families and partners over the coming months.
