Iva’s story
When Iva first heard about Allkind, she was struggling with depression and finding it hard to leave the house. A nurse suggested joining a gardening group, and it immediately caught her interest. “I really liked the sound of it,” she says. Spending time outdoors in the Fig Tree Gardening Group helped her reconnect with people and start rebuilding her confidence after years of isolation.
Gardening gave her a sense of purpose and opened doors to new opportunities. She joined creative courses, began volunteering at the community garden, and eventually secured a six-month groundskeeping role at London Zoo. She says:
